Mechanical Engineering & Robotics

David Balogh

I'm a mechanical engineering student at the University of Delaware, now working toward a master's in robotics. I like building things that move: precision hardware, robots, and the software that ties them together. Right now I'm a graduate researcher in the Das Microrobotics Lab, building a 3D tracking system for micron-scale robots. Before that I designed a patent-pending clamp for an EUV lithography machine and automated manufacturing data workflows at Daher. Outside the lab, you'll usually find me flying, skiing, backpacking, reading or gaming.

Current

Graduate Researcher — Microrobots for Cancer Treatment

University of Delaware — Das Microrobotics Lab · Newark, DE

  • Developing a 3D tracking system to accurately locate 5–10 micron microrobots as they move through fluid.
  • Applying machine learning to 3D tracking data to identify patterns in imaging blur and microrobot movement.
Jun 2026 – Aug 2026

Manufacturing Engineer Intern

Daher — Kodiak Aircraft · Sandpoint, ID

  • Replaced manual data collection with Python ETL pipelines syncing engineering and production data into SQL Server.
  • Designed a UI cross-referencing engineering drawings, job travelers, and work instructions to improve traceability.
  • Supported manufacturing engineering and automation on the shop floor, including writing work instructions.
Aug 2025 – Dec 2025

Technology Commercialization Intern

University of Delaware Technology Transfer Office · Newark, DE

  • Translated complex research into clear, actionable summaries for stakeholders and industry partners.
  • Led marketing campaigns for new technologies by developing value propositions and outreach materials.
  • Increased team efficiency by automating 90% of the original workload with custom-built n8n workflows.
